go for sci-fi or fantasy (Lord of the Rings, anyone?)

a series that manages to satirize fantasy and real life at the same time

I read the Bible every day, a habit that is very important to me.

it really is as good as they always say

a novel about the history of philosophy

Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice"

Harper Lee's "To kill a mockingbird"

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories

Daniel Defoe's "Robinson Crusoe"

delightful, not only for children

I would actually recommend starting with the New Testament, especially the gospels.

"Anne of Green Gables" and its sequels
