Peter Watts' Blindsight and Echopraxia are both excellent explorations of the human mind and consciousness.

I was actually super mad at Daemon; I always try to get people to get both at once, to avoid the cliffhanger.

If you like Stephenson, read this, but if you've never read one of his books before, I would not recommend this as a first.

If you're a Stephenson fan, I would absolutely give this a read.

Peter Watts' Blindsight and Echopraxia are both excellent explorations of the human mind and consciousness.

It was a fun technothriller, but focused too much on one particular weird model that I thought wasn't too realistic.

I still love the series

Seconding Barsk

which begins with Hominids

I loved Matt Ruff's "Lovecraft Country".

I would recommend his Neanderthal Parallax series
