I wouldn't class Ready Player One as the best book of 2012, but it was certainly enjoyable

Gibson's Pattern Recognition purely based on subject matter

I prefer This Is Not A Game and Pattern Recognition in this genre

I Will Teach You To Be Rich was nicely written and has a lot of supplementary stuff, mostly centred around managing personal finance well. Probably not one of the "seminal" books - it's new - but a decent read.

I'd suggest Tad Williams' Otherland

also worth checking out is Tad Williams' Otherland series.

Among Others was one of the most enjoyable fiction reads.

It Starts With Food was the book that has had the most significant impact on my life this year.

Leading So People Will Follow surprisingly insightful and clearly actionable.

Power, Speed, Endurance, which I recently got, has a shot at being the next most impactful.

Prep was also surprisingly good

the Beermat Entrepreneur (UK-specific) that outlined the whole process quite well
