Blindsight by Peter Watts. It has some silliness but the principal idea was brilliant and has really stayed with me

Blindsight and Echopraxia by Peter Watts [1] I enjoyed the ideas in these books.

House of Suns by Alastair Reynolds. The world building in this one book is amazing

The Sunken Land Begins to Rise Again [2] by M. John Harrison. Beautiful writing. His descriptions give me vivid dreams if I read before bed.

The Thursday Murder Club [3] by Richard Osman. Light reading, amusing, beginning of a series.
