Every year, I come back to "On The Shortness of Life" by Seneca to ground myself to the fact that life keeps on happening and I have to remind myself that life is long enough if I think about it...

I would recommend Meditations by Marcus Aurelius (Hays Translation) along with On the Shortness of Life by Seneca. These 2 books together will introduce you to the Stoic philosophy which I just found a couple of years ago and it has made my life much better.

Seneca's On the Shortness of Life was a profound read for me. I wish I read it earlier. That and Marcus Aurelius' Meditations.

Seneca - On the Shortness of Life Although it can be read in an hour or two, it completely rewrote the way I approach life – particularly by reframing procrastination and idleness. "You act like mortals in all that you fear, and like immortals in all that you desire"
+1 on "Nonviolent Communication" - if anyone is interested I have some directive like notes from the book here https://blog.abuiles.com/reading-feed/nonviolent-communicati... (https://blog.abuiles.com/reading-feed/nonviolent-communication/) -- going through the book is important for the context but this can give you a quick overview of what it is about. Other books in my list are: - Punished by rewards by Alfie Kohn - On the shortness of life by Seneca

Seneca's On The Shortness of Life. It's extremely short and to the point on how best to spend one's life and how we have enough time to do whatever we please - I summarized/heavily quoted it at http://peterc.org/pedia/seneca-shortness-of-life/
